Brigitte Nielsen Talks Arnold Schwarzenegger Affair: 'I Feel Bad For Maria'

Model-turned-actress Brigitte Nielsen opened up to the Daily Mail about her romance with Arnold Schwarzenegger, amid the promotion of her autobiography You Only Get One Life and the disintegration of the former-Governator's personal life.

The two met on the set of "Red Sonja" in 1985, when Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were a couple, but not married. Nielsen told the Mail, "How serious it was with her, I don't know. He never spoke about her -- and the way he was living his life with me, I felt I was the only one. Then I realised about him and Maria and, wow, I felt cheated."

Of the news that Schwarzenegger fathered a child with his housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena, Nielsen remarked, "It breaks my heart because he and Maria have four kids and you don't just have a baby with someone else. I'm surprised Arnold thought he could get away with it and I feel bad for Maria."

In an excerpt from You Only Get One Life, printed in The Sun, Nielsen writes:

I quickly discovered that away from the cameras, superstar Arnold was charming, kind, confident and very down-to-earth though his body always seemed impossible -- you couldn't ignore it when we were running around half-naked in our battle gear! I can't say that the look did much for me but he was an incredible sight.

Of course it was soon apparent that the two of us had energy between us and at length it channelled itself into an outrageous affair.

We both knew that when the film was finished, so were we. Time was limited so we didn't hold back - we really made the most of it. The set lights would barely be off before we disappeared to do our thing. We wanted time to ourselves and we wanted to try everything. And when we were alone, that's exactly what we did.
