ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Following in her mother's footsteps, Bristol Palin has launched an official Facebook page. Among her first subjects: her role on "Dancing with the Stars."
The 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says the Tuesday launch is part of a new chapter in her life.
The single mother of a toddler son, Bristol Palin says she wanted to step out of her comfort zone to tell her story and advocate for the "pro-life and pro-family cause."
She says she is excited about her TV dancing role and says her dance partner, Mark Ballas, visited with her in Alaska this week. Most of her updates on Facebook have thus far centered around "Dancing with the Stars," with updates on rehearsals, videos of her appearance on the show, and links to interviews.
Her mother, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, also has an official Facebook page, using it to endorse conservative candidates and expound on her political views.
Bristol Palin posted a "welcome" note to her Facebook page noting that she had decided to " step out of my "comfort zone" in order to tell my story." Read it below.

I look forward to continuing to speak to organizations that are on the front lines of both movements every single day. It is my honor to help these groups and organizations in any way I can.
Additionally, I am excited to be competing on Dancing With the Stars with my partner Mark Ballas, and I look forward to participating as one part of an ensemble cast on one of television's more positive, and family oriented shows.
