Testimony is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in a libel, defamation and breach of contract case filed against Spears and her parents by the singer’s former confidante and manager, Osama “Sam” Lutfi. Brit's back and better than ever!

Aside from her mentoring gig on "The X Factor," Britney Spears is reportedly in talks to sign a book deal with HarperCollins imprint It Books, a source confirms to E! News.

But Spears' book isn't going to be your typical celebrity memoir. The pop star, 30, is penning a novel, similar to those of reality stars Lauren Conrad and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. Her story would incorporate fictionalized versions of her own life experiences, like Conrad's L.A. Candy and Snooki's A Shore Thing.

Her rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that It Books is having "discussions" with Spears, whose past will surely make for an enticing novel.
