Naturally, the most important item on everyone's weekend agenda is the Pop-Up Party we're throwing at Apt2B on Melrose this Saturday afternoon. Le Fashion Truck, the Bath Petals natural beauty truck and the B Sweet Mobile truck will all be eagerly awaiting your arrival, so don't be "L.A." and flake. Now, onto other, less important things happening this weekend:
Friday
Tell your boss you have [enter highly contagious disease here] so you can start your weekend off early at Fashion Friday at The Fig, a pop-up retail boutique offering gift bags, DJ sets and food trucks. Stick around downtown for the Sake Festival at Chaya to sample 26 (!) different sakes and to gorge on all the sushi and apps you can stomach. After, head to the Wiltern to see Best Coast.
If you'd prefer to spend the night in Hollywood, catch the Rebecca Minkoff sample sale at Confederacy before grabbing a bite at the recently-reopened Umami Burger. After, screen Dr. Strangelove at the Egyptian Theater. If you're still looking for more action, grab a drink at The Conservatory, the new, intimate bar above Mirabelle on Sunset. Since we all know that calories after midnight don't count, treat yourself to a late-night bite at Millions of Milkshakes (open 'til 2 a.m.) or Pinches Tacos (open 'til 3 a.m.).
Saturday
After engaging in shameful behavior at brunch at Bagatelle (don't lie -- we know how you spend your Saturday mornings), it goes without saying that you'll swing by our Pop-Up Party for all kinds of awesomeness. When the party stops at 4 p.m., beeline it to the new Tortilla Republic happy hour, which lasts until 7 p.m. End your evening at the Lawrence Weiner opening at Regen Projects, or scare yourself sh*tless at the Hollywood Forever screening of Silence of the Lambs.
If the 405 is not something you like to venture east of, head down to the "mythical, magical" LF warehouse sale (early -- it starts at 7 a.m.!) before stopping by the Santa Monica Festival at Clover Park for local food, earth-friendly artistic wares, music and more. While in Santa Monica, view rarely-seen Marilyn Monroe nudes at Hip'tique. Next, check out the much-talked-about Venice Art Walk, and then head to KCRW's "Strangers" happy hour at Hotel Shangri-La.
Eastsiders can choose between the Echo Park PDA Art Walk or... the Pirate Festival, home to "a bacon buffet, buxom burlesque corsairs and the best pirate performers from all over the globe." Hm. After making this very difficult decision, grab a taco at the newly-opened Señor Fish in Echo Park and then head out to see the Derby Dolls do battle. Finally, end your Saturday night at the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah show at the El Rey and try to ignore the fact that most of the men in the crowd weigh less than you do.
Sunday
On Sunday, head to the 2nd Annual Hudson Block Party for live music (by bands like Of Montreal), 30 vendors and four full bars care of The Hudson & The Churchill -- get there early before it gets crazy. Or, if you're more in the mood to shop, stop by the Sunset Walk & Shop for fashion trucks, giveaways and 20 of L.A.'s emerging artists and designers. Grab a burger beforehand at the new Five Guys in WeHo if you're not a fan of food trucks.
Afterward, head west for the L.A. Chamber Orchestra's live scoring of two silent films, and then take advantage of the new $20 3-course prix-fixe dinner at Nook Bistro because -- seriously -- if there's a better way to end your weekend than with Southern-style cooking, strawberry shortcake, and cheap wine, we'd like to hear it.
