If you're a grown man who's a fan of My Little Pony, you're in good company.
The adorable little franchise has an obsessive community of adult fans, now commonly known as "Bronies." One of their heroines is Ashleigh Ball, a voice actress who plays both Applejack and Rainbow Dash on the television show, "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic."
She's the star of a new documentary about the rabid subculture called "A Brony Tale" by Canadian filmmaker Brent Hodge. It premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival tonight.
If you asked Ball two years ago whether she'd be practicing her Applejack voice to a cheering crowd at a Brony convention, she might not even know what a Brony was. Today, she's a fan favorite for shedding light on a world that many outsiders thought was weird, creepy, or just plain lame.
"I'm still wrapping my head around it," she told HuffPost Live on Friday (video above). "It's amazing to get that kind of praise for the work that you do. I'm just a voice actress!"
HuffPost Live also talked to a hardcore Brony named Kezz, who told us it "took a lot of courage" to "come out" as a Brony, both to his parents and the rest of the world:
