WATCH: World's Largest Rooftop Farm Transforms Above Brooklyn

Brooklyn Grange, a leading force in New York's growing urban farm industry, is celebrating their Brooklyn location's (the company has a smaller farm in Queens) first full growing season with a mesmerizing time-lapse video chronicling the farm's immense construction.

Taken by filmmaker Christopher St. John, the video captures the dramatic transformation of 65,000 square feet above the Brooklyn Navy Yard into a lush green space for organic vegetables, flowers, and honey.

While profitability amongst urban farms is difficult -- they face a number of unique obstacles -- Brooklyn Grange is among successful urban farms breaking even.

According to a Columbia University study examining the potential of urban farming in New York City, the implementation of tours and special events are cited as one of the reasons behind their relative success.
