We're not sure whether he wears pink on Wednesdays, but we can confirm that Senate candidate Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Iowa) is using his "Mean Girls" expertise to help boost his electoral chances.

Friday is Oct. 3, the date "Mean Girls" protagonist Cady Heron got to tell her new high school crush what day it was. And in a tweet, Braley's campaign promoted the very special date as an opportunity for young voters to cast their ballots for the Democrat:

The suggestion gives fans of the movie one more way to celebrate Oct. 3, a day that's inspired artwork, lists of quotes and even viewing parties. It's an especially important date this year: The cult classic just turned 10, presumably with a birthday cake filled with rainbows and smiles.

Braley isn't the first Democrat to reference the early 2000's masterpiece to show he's hip with the kids. He joins Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), who has charted how Cady and the girls might fare in her famously nice state, as well as the leader of his own party:

Early voting for the Iowa Senate race, which pits Braley against Republican state senator Joni Ernst, began last Thursday. The two are vying for the seat currently held by retiring Sen. Tom Harkin (D). HuffPost Pollster, which is tracking 30 polls from 18 pollsters on the race, gives Ernst a lead of just under two points.

Here's our question: Does the limit to political gimmicks exist?

Tell us whether you think Braley's new tactic is fetch -- or if you don't know whether he even goes here -- in the comments section below.

And here's a present for reading this far:
