The American Family Association 's Bryan Fischer spoke out in defense of Nintendo's new "life simulator" game, Tomodachi Life, which sparked controversy last week because it doesn't allow players to enter into same-sex marriages.
As Right Wing Watch is reporting, Fischer took lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates -- who had been pushing to have Nintendo amend the specifics of the game to be more inclusive -- to task in a recent broadcast of his "Focal Point" radio show.
"The word 'equality' is a totally bogus word when they talk about equality between homosexuality and heterosexuality," Fischer said. "They are not equal. They are not equality in morality. They are not equal in worth. They are not equal in procreative power. They are not equal in their consistency with God's design."
He went on to note, "There is no equality between homosexuality and heterosexuality. One is a normal expression of human sexuality. The other is a sexually deviant expression."
Last week, Nintendo officials apologized for upsetting LGBT customers, but said there was nothing that could be done to include same-sex relationships in this Tomodachi Life installment.
"We are committed to advancing our longtime company values of fun and entertainment for everyone," officials wrote. "We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players."
