Last week DJ David Guetta was named the official Ambassador of the 2014 edition of Amplifier Center Stage. The music program, matches developing musicians with established artists who will help mentor their development.

Guetta joins the previously announced Amplifier Center Stage curators including Robert Glasper, Ariana Grande, Hunter Hayes and Kendrick Lamar. The program was launched by The Recording Academy, which really makes it unique against other music competitions.

The three winners for the 2014 Amplifier Center Stage were also announced last week. Eyango, Reckoner, and Jessica Faith. Each winner will decide between one of the three program offers:

  1. A recording session and professionally produced track with a leading Grammy-winning producer.
  2. Production of a music video with a noted producer and/or director.
  3. An opening performance slot on a major tour and/or music festival.

On Sunday, I toured the 2014 edition of Amplifier Center Stage booth. It was located in the LA Convention Center and was part of the Official Grammy After Party. As far as booths go, the site was quite impressive. Frosted glass with etchings of the curators are offset by a room of floor to ceiling LCD screens flashing bright colors and videos on a loop. Above you a series of flickering incandescent bulbs dangling from the low ceiling. You can check out pictures of the booth below in the slideshow.
