Caleb Jacoby, a 16-year-old Massachusetts teen who was reported missing on Monday, has been found safe in New York City, authorities said Friday.
Officials in Brookline, Mass., said officers spotted Jacoby, the son of Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby, walking in Times Square late Thursday.
According to a press release by Brookline police, information was developed during the investigation that indicated Caleb Jacoby might be traveling to that area.
"At approximately 9 p.m., New York City Police informed us they had located Caleb and he was safe and sound," Brookline police said in a press release. "Plans are now being formulated to transport Caleb back home."
On the day Caleb Jacoby vanished, Efrat Lipschitz, the teen's 11th-grade Hebrew teacher at Maimonides School, said he was last seen at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
"We don't know anything. We don't have even a clue," Lipschitz told MassLive.com.
Police, family members, and hundreds of volunteers had been searching for Caleb Jacoby, plastering fliers around Brookline, Boston and the surrounding areas.
Jeff Jacoby used social media Thursday night to thank everyone who helped in the search for his son.
"All we can think of at this moment is how wonderful it will be to see Caleb again and shower him with love," he tweeted. "Words can’t express our gratitude for the extraordinary outpouring of kindness and support that we have received from so many people."
