California Congressman Sings 'Meet The Mets' On House Floor After Home Team Loses

At least he was in key. Mostly.

WASHINGTON -- Making sports-related bets with lawmakers from other states is a popular tradition on Capitol Hill.

But Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) showed Friday why it might be best to stick to exchanging local delicacies.

Schiff, who represents parts of Los Angeles County, made a wager with Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) over the outcome of the recent playoff series between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers. For losing the bet, the California Democrat had to sing "Meet the Mets" on the House floor, wearing a Mets tie.

He did not seem happy about his punishment -- but at least he got in a jab at the Mets' hated crosstown rival.

"Thank God the Mets are going to the World Series -- and not the Yankees," Schiff said.
