Only Republican Woman To Chair House Committee Won't Seek Re-Election

Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.) announced Thursday she would not seek re-election to Congress in 2016.

"This is a community that I love, that I call home. And at the conclusion of my current term in office, I will be coming home," Miller said in a video posted to Facebook. "I will not seek re-election."

Miller is the only woman to chair a House committee. She began serving in the U.S. Congress in 2003, after a run as Michigan's secretary of state.
