Candy Spelling's Mansion Wasn't Petra's First Choice

VIDEO: Candy's 'Manor' Wasn't Petra's First Choice

British heiress Petra Ecclestone may be happy she's moving into Candy Spelling's massive manor (the sale price was a confirmed $85 million, not the $150 million Spelling was hoping for), but she'll always be wistful about the one that got away, reports TMZ.

Apparently Ecclestone's first choice was the similarly priced $125 million Fleur de Lys, another property in the Holmby Hills. Built by Texas billionaire couple David and Suzanne Saperstein, it took about half of the 1990s decade to acquire the five acres of land the home sits on, according to the Wall Street Journal.

It went on the market in 2007 after Suzanne Saperstein won the property in a divorce settlement, reports Real Estalker. Singers Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon were reportedly considering a bid in 2009, but the home has yet to find a serious suitor.

Fleur de Lys is inspired by Versailles, a royal French chateau and a favorite of King Louis XIV. The exterior is French limestone, and interior features include 24 karat gold trim and Italian marble walls, a ballroom that can fit 650 people, and a 50-seat screening room.
