I Wanted A Career Change, And I Finally Got One (VIDEO)

WATCH: The Moment I Knew I Needed To Make A Career Change

What do you do when you find yourself yearning for a career change, but it doesn't feel like the right time?

Tarrick Grant joined HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to discuss the moment he knew he wanted to switch fields and how he finally got there.

Grant, a former car technician, knew he needed something new, but it took him more than a year to act on it.

"The moment I knew, I was actually working on a car and I was contemplating doing a shortcut that could've, you know, potentially been dangerous," he said. "I was working on somebody's car, and the fact I found myself contemplating doing this shortcut and not doing the full job is when I really realized I'm not interested in this, I need to change."

Even though he was positive he wanted a new job, he held back at first because of his uncertainty about finances and what he wanted to do next. Now he's happier than ever working as an IT technician, a job he loves even with the long hours.

"If you find yourself in that situation, try and figure out how you can make this happen faster because if you're really not happy going to the job everyday, you're not interested in it you're going to find yourself doing shortcuts, not doing the job properly," he said.
