Carine Roitfeld: 'I'm Not Bad Looking, But I'm Not A Beauty Either'

Carine Roitfeld: 'I'm Not A Beauty'

It's a rare treat to hear fashion editors open up about their own looks, rather than praising (or scoffing at) the style of others.

So we're refreshed to read this chat with Carine Roitfeld, ex-French Vogue-er and now editor of her own fashion rag CR Fashion Book, who spills in a rare intimate moment to Harper's Bazaar that she waxes ambivalent about her own appearance.

The editor is profiled in September's issue of the magazine with a gorgeous Karl Lagerfeld-shot photo series. She also chats about her new M.A.C. collaboration and what she thinks of Karl. (We'll save THAT for another time.)

Roitfeld's most touching moment comes, however, when she opens up about her appearance:

"I'm not bad-looking, but I'm not a beauty either. I think I have character, and that is what people like in me."

The new grandmother, 57, poses pushing a baby carriage, although she's definitely the chic-est grandmum we've ever seen. Moving on: she also shares her eating habits -- or, her lack thereof. Sigh.

"I don't eat a lot, to be honest — never. I'm a bit like a little bird, picking all day long, but I'm not getting pasta or getting all those things, you know? So I think it's my morphology. I've always been skinny."

N.B.: HuffPost Style fully supports the getting of pasta.
