Carl Wieman, CU Nobel Prize Winner, Appointed To National Science Post

President Barack Obama has nominated Carl Wieman -- a Nobel-prize winning scientist from the University of Colorado -- to be the nation's Associate Director for Science.

The post is in the U .S. Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Wieman now divides his time between CU and the University of British Columbia, spending about 20 percent of his time in Boulder. He has revolutionized CU classrooms with new approaches to science education, including the introduction of game-show like clickers that help students better interact during lectures.
