Carla Bruni Pregnancy Confirmed By Pal Sarkozy, Marisa Bruni Tedeschi: Report

Soon-To-Be Grandparents Confirm Carla Bruni's Pregnancy

The father of French President Nicolas Sarkozy has confirmed to German newspaper Bild that Carla Bruni is pregnant, Reuters reports.

Pal Sarkozy told Bild.de, "The two do not want to know the gender in advance, but I'm sure it will be a girl and as beautiful as Carla."

And he's not the only one talking. Paris Match writes that according to Italian journal La Stampa, Carla's mother Marisa Bruni Tedeschi announced she'd soon have a new grandchild at a family reunion in Turin.

The Elysée, which has not commented on the Bild story, has not made any official statement, wanting to avoid accusations that Sarkozy was using his private life to win an election. If Bruni-Sarkozy is pregnant, she will likely give birth in the autumn, months before the French presidential election in April and May 2012. Pollsters had predicted that a baby for Sarkozy, could give the unpopular president a five-point bounce in the opinion polls.
