Carla Bruni Spends $424 On Maternity Clothes At H&M: Report

As perhaps the most shocking turn in Carla Bruni's possible-pregnancy, the French first lady ran up quite a clothing tab at...not Bonpoint or Dior kids...but chez H&M, Women's Wear Daily reports.

According to Voici (Paris' answer to Us Weekly), Bruni spent 300 euros, or $424, on maternity clothes at one of the chain's Rue de Rivoli locations. Much like Carla's stance on whether she's with child, H&M wouldn't confirm nor deny the story, telling the fashion newspaper, "We don't usually comment on the private lives of our customers." They do, however, Tweet about it. @hmfrance posted to the microblogging site last week: "Le magazine "Voici" dévoile le shopping grossesse de Carla Bruni chez H&M : http://bit.ly/k7pgo4 @hmfrance," or "Voici magazine reveals Carla Bruni's maternity wear shopping at H&M."

And to round out today's Carla Bruni bump de bébé watch 2k11, check out this brief clip in which interviewer Jean-Pierre Pernaut says, "I know you hate to talk about your private life, but I just want to say congratulations." Then she laughs and remarks, "I just want to congratulate you, too." But no mention of her being with child! Ah, ze French.
