Carlos Fuentes Dies, Friends And Admirers React Via Twitter (PHOTOS)

Carlos Fuentes died Tuesday at the age of 83 in Mexico City. Alongside other Spanish-speaking authors, like Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mario Vargas Llosa, Fuentes was part of the 1960's and 70's literature movement, known as "El Boom" in Latin America.

Today, the world mourns the loss of one of the greatest Latin American authors.

Long-time friend and Nobel Prize winning author, Vargas Llosa reacted to Fuentes' death through his daughter's Twitter account.

"It's been very sad to hear about Carlos Fuentes' death. I met him 50 years ago and we were friends ever since without anything, ever, ruining our friendship," wrote Vargas Llosa in Spanish through his daughter's Morgana Vargas Llosa's Twitter.

"Fuentes leaves behind a large body of work, an eloquent testimony of political issues and cultural realities of our time. Not only are friends but many readers are going to deeply miss him," Vargas Llosa continued.

Like Vargas Llosa many lament the death of the Mexican author.
