Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina criticized Democratic rival Hillary Clinton on Monday for unfairly accusing political rivals of sexism as a way to gain an advantage during the presidential campaign.
"Hillary Clinton first of all calls everybody a sexist and that's not fair game," Fiorina said on a Fox News show. "She's going to play that card. We need to be realistic. And, of course, she's going to talk about the Republican war on women, which doesn't exist."
Fiorina also echoed recent comments by fellow GOP candidate Donald Trump during her appearance on "Fox and Friends."
"Of course she’s going to play the woman card. That’s what she does," Fiorina said. "The way to deal with the woman card is to attack her track record."
Fiorina's comments about the Democratic presidential frontrunner were in response to a question about the insults Clinton and Trump have hurled at each other in recent days.
Clinton said Trump has "demonstrated a penchant for sexism," in an interview with the Des Moines Register published on Wednesday. Trump responded on Sunday, saying that "she's playing the woman card left and right."
On Monday, Trump went further, accusing former President Bill Clinton of "women abuse."
Fiorina said that unlike Clinton, her candidacy is based on her resume alone (though many have said her record is far from impressive).
"I'm never going to ask for people's support because I'm a woman. I'm going to ask for their support because I'm the most qualified candidate to beat Hillary Clinton and to do the job."
Fiorina also referenced a dustup in October between the former secretary of state and fellow Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, during which Clinton insinuated that the Vermont senator had made sexist comments by telling her to stop "shouting" about gun control.
