Carly Simon Wonderfully Repurposes 'You're So Vain' As Anti-Trump Anthem

"Your face, it was apricot."

If thereā€™s one thing weā€™ve learned about Donald Trump over the past few months, itā€™s that heā€™s a vain narcissist who thinks extremely highly of himself and his wealth. A new video, released by the Patriotic Artists and Creatives PAC ā€• a pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC ā€• puts the focus on his self-regard, with a little help from Carly Simon.

Simonā€™s best-known song, ā€œYouā€™re So Vain,ā€ is the soundtrack to the video, which marks the first time the singer has allowed the song to be used for a political cause. The video, produced and directed by Jon Vein and Fred Goldring, was posted on Saturday ā€• just a day ahead of the second presidential debate.

It shows clips of various journalists and media personalities pointing out Trumpā€™s narcissism and the nominee speaking highly of himself while Simonā€™s song plays. The song needed almost no changing to apply to the real estate mogul-turned-politician, but the one adjustment Simon did make was spot-on: she replaced the line, ā€œyour scarf, it was apricot,ā€ with the more appropriate ā€œyour face, it was apricot.ā€

In a statement obtained by CNN, a rep for the music icon said Simon ā€œis alarmed at the prospect of Donald Trump reaching the White House and has joined other creative voices in making a definitive statement.ā€

We hear that statement loud and clear.
