Carmelo Anthony Hits Spencer Hawes, Tyson Chandler Jumps In During Knicks-76ers Game (VIDEO)

WATCH: Melo Takes A Swing At 76ers Center

Riding a four-game losing streak into their matchup with the 76ers on Sunday, the Knicks played with more of an edge than they've had in a while. Perhaps no one felt that edge more pointedly than Spencer Hawes.

As Hawes tried to box out Carmelo Anthony after a Nick Young miss during the third quarter, the Knicks' superstar appeared to slap him in the back of the head. A whistle blew as Hawes immediately turned around and approached Anthony.

That's when Tyson Chandler got involved. The New York center escalated the situation by shoving Hawes away from Anthony. Both players needed to be separated while Anthony stood a few feet away from the commotion.

When the dust settled, a double technical foul was called on Chandler and Hawes. Anthony received a flagrant foul-1.

“I didn’t mean to hit him in the head,” Anthony said after New York's 99-93 victory, via the New York Post. "It was just one them plays."
