Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2014 Show Makes Bold Statement With Black & White Dip-Dye Wigs (PHOTOS)

Wiggin' Out At Carmen Marc Valvo's Spring 2014 Show

Leave it up to celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson to steal all the shine on day two of New York Fashion Week. For Carmen Marc Valvo's Spring 2014 show, Gibson wowed us with custom black and white dip-dye wigs. Mimicking the monochromatic theme in Marc Valvo's collection, Gibson decided to forego the stereotypical romantic hairstyles of spring and design this bold 'do.

"I wanted to take the trends of dip-dye or ombre and the bob and take them to the extreme to make them fun and youthful," said Gibson. "We knew that the best way to make this strong statement with the hair was to create them with wigs."

Gibson and his team of stylists worked in the salon until one this morning -- dying and cutting to perfect the monochromatic look. Now that's dedication!

To create this style, each wig was cut into a graduated bob with either blunt bangs or a side part. Next, the wigs were colored using a dip-dye ombre method. Before the show, they gave the hair pieces a smooth finish using Ted Gibson Hairsheet Styling and blow dried them straight. The wigs were then flat-ironed and set with Beautiful Hold Hairspray.

"I think women of any age can take something from this look -- women in their 20s can pull it off just as I’ve designed it, while a woman in her 40s would look great with a softened bob with little to no ombre," Gibson explained.

NARS lead makeup artist Uzo carried on the monochromatic theme by adding platinum shimmer eyeshadow (try Mousson Cream Eyeshadow), a graphic black eyeliner with Black Moon pencil and nude lips (Tashkent Pure Matte Lipstick mixed with Radiant Creamy Concealer).
