Casey Anthony will be a free woman this week after completing the one year of probation she was ordered to serve on a check fraud conviction.
Barring some unforeseen legal entanglement, Anthony's probation will come to an end early Friday. After that she will no longer be required to report to a probation officer and will not be subjected to unannounced visits by state officials. Anthony will also be allowed to leave the state of Florida without permission.
Anthony's attorney, Charles Greene, did not immediately return a call for comment from The Huffington Post. Speaking with ABC News Tuesday, Greene said, "As of Friday, Aug. 24 at 12 a.m., nobody will be able to tell her where to be."
Greene said Anthony has complied with all the terms of her probation and is looking forward to gaining her freedom back.
"Even though she's been out of jail for the last year, she's essentially still been in prison by the requirement that she remains in one location," Greene said.
Anthony, 26, was acquitted in July 2011 of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony. She was however found guilty of lying to police and sentenced to four years in jail. Credited with time served, Anthony was released in mid-July. The probation she is serving stems from a 2010 check fraud conviction.
An email to her attorney was not immediately returned Saturday.
Anthony was acquitted last year of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. After Caylee disappeared in the summer of 2008, Anthony told investigators that a babysitter named Zenaida Gonzalez had kidnapped the toddler. Gonzalez later sued Anthony, claiming her reputation had been ruined.
During her murder trial, Anthony's attorney told jurors that the babysitter story was fabricated.
