Cat On The Runway At Tracy Reese Was Purina ONE's Idea (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Why Was There A Cat On The Runway At Fashion Week?

Dogs may be man's best friend, but cats are every fashionista's BFF. (See here, here and here.) So we barely raised an eyebrow when a cat took the runway at Tracy Reese's Fashion Week show on Sunday, carried delicately by a model.

But still, we felt we were owed some explanations. As it turns out, the cats (there were multiple) were there care of Purina ONE, which is collaborating with Tracy Reese for its True Nature of Cats movement. According to a press release, the movement is all about letting cats "be who they were born to be"... by feeding them Purina ONE.

Reese put the animals in her show because "cats have a lot of energy," something that was not at all apparent on the runway but we'll take her word for it.

Beyond that, we're not sure how much Purina ONE and Tracy Reese have in common or how this partnership came to be. We're honestly more jazzed about the outfit the model is wearing (so FLOTUSy). But the Purina ONE collab did make for a historical moment: Apparently the cat, Lily, is the very first feline to appear on a New York Fashion Week runway.

Be a witness to fashion cat history with the photos below.
