If catching snakes was an Olympic sport, then these officials would surely win gold.
Five marshals chased after a serpent after it slithered onto the Rio 2016 golf course Thursday. They followed the critter into the rough before scooping it up with a pole and depositing it in a bag.
One sportscaster described the spectacle as “the event inside the event.”
“They’re moving quicker than any sport here in Rio,” another analyst said of the officials, while a third pundit lightheartedly predicted that catching snakes could become a new sport at the 2024 Games.
