Cedric Richmond Re-Elected To Congress In Louisiana

Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) was re-elected to Congress on Tuesday in Louisiana's 2nd congressional district.

Richmond, who was first elected in 2010, defeated Democrat Gary Landrieu, independent David Brooks, and Libertarian Samuel Davenport.

According to a tally by Congressional Quarterly, Richmond missed 21 percent of House votes in 2014. Richmond told the New Orleans Times-Picayune in October that he missed the votes for family medical reasons, but declined to provide further explanation.

Richmond has been the star of the Democratic congressional baseball team the last few years. Despite announcing that he will undergo surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder, Richmond told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he still plans to take the hill against Republicans in next year's game.
