When Cedric The Entertainer made the move to New York City from St. Louis, the first opportunity for work he found was on "Def Comedy Jam." The idea of being on such a big stage made Cedric nervous, but he got some valuable advice from Bernie Mac.
Cedric shared that wisdom with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Thursday:
He went to lunch with me, and I was nervous about it, and he just gave me this really cool encouragement: "New York is a big city, but it's not the whole world, so go out there and be you." That's what he was like, basically: "Don't get intimdated, it's not the whole world, it's just a place." ... So when I go on stage, it's one of those things. You see a big audience out there, you think, "They're not the whole world. I don't have to be intimidated, I don't have to be shook."
The pair of comedians eventually became great friends and both appeared in 2000's "The Original Kings Of Comedy." Cedric told HuffPost Live that he often reflects on Mac when he's on stage or surrounded by other comedians who came up with Mac and himself.
Cedric the Entertainer visited HuffPost Live to discuss his role in "Top Five," the new film written by, directed by and starring Chris Rock, which hits theaters Dec. 12.
