Cedric The Entertainer Will Host 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire,' Replace Meredith Vieira

Meet The New 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' Host

Sorry, Regis fans -- but the original "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" host will not return to his former position.

Cedric the Entertainer will take over the hosting duties from Meredith Vieira on the syndicated game show Wednesday morning, Deadline reports.

Vieira announced her decision to leave "Millionaire" after serving as its host for 11 years in order to pursue other opportunities.

Cedric the Entertainer, whose real name is Cedric Antonio Kyles, will begin filming "Millionaire" in September for the game show's 12th season in national syndication.

As USA Today notes, "Millionaire" has struggled in ratings recently with an average 3.2 million viewers this season. ABC may be hoping that Cedric's presence will inject new life into the show.

In a statement, President Janice Marinelli said Disney-ABC Domestic Television is thrilled with the choice, adding: "With his deep roots as a successful stand-up comedian and actor, Cedric will bring his fresh approach and unpredictable fun to the show."
