While "twerking" has been around for about two decades, it gyrated its way into the mainstream lexicon only in the past year. And just two weeks ago, Miley Cyrus' controversial VMA performance prompted the venerated Oxford Dictionary to recognize the term with the following definition: "Twerk, v.: dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance."
