Celebrity Chefs Talk Chicago's Food Scene Ahead Of National Restaurant Association Hotel-Motel Show

Top Celebrity Chefs Talk Chicago's Food Scene

Next week, Chicago's McCormick Place will play host to the National Restaurant Association's Hotel-Motel Show.

From May 18-21, more than 60,000 suppliers and buyers are expected to descend on Chicago for the trade show, which is the largest annual gathering of restaurant, foodservice and hospitality types. And in between the networking, convention attendees will take in a World Culinary Showcase featuring demos from some of the nation's highest-profile celebrity chefs.

Though the event isn't open to the public, HuffPost Chicago has a scoop for you as we found out what some of the top chefs had to say about our fair city's culinary scene -- including tips on some of their favorite local hotspots.

Even better, the chefs offered up insight on which restaurants they'll be hitting up when they're not tied up at the show. (If you want to hedge your bets, try hanging out at The Purple Pig over the course of the weekend -- three of the eight chefs we heard from named the Near North Side hotspot among their picks.)

Scroll down to read what James Beard Award winner Maneet Chauhan, Food Network star Anne Burrell, Chicago's own Rick Bayless and more had to say about our city's grub scene.
