Hollywood is full of bullying, backstabbing, boyfriend stealing, gossiping and what seems like just plain cruelty at times.
With all this nastiness, what should be kept private between friends or co-workers often plays out for the entire world to see. Most recently, "Mad Men" actor Jon Hamm made some unflattering comments about Kim Kardashian to Elle UK, saying, "Being a f**king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture."
Kardashian was understandably upset with the comments, but she responded in a mature fashion, which is a rarity when it comes to Hollywood feuds. The reality star tweeted that she respects Hamm, but didn't appreciate his comments.
The "Mad Men" star claimed to be surprised his comments became such a story, but he didn't apologize. Instead, he said he only knows Kardashian's public persona and his remarks were not meant to be personal.
Hamm is not a stupid person, nor is he naive. He likely expected, or at least should have expected, his comments to ignite like wildfire across the entertainment media landscape. As he well knows, the same culture that celebrates stupidity is also enthralled by the petty squabbles of the rich and famous.
