Celine Dion Greets Thousands At Husband René Angélil's Viewing

Mourners paid their respects on Thursday.

A week after the death of Celine Dion's husband, René Angélil, at age 73, mourners and fans alike paid their respects to the late manager on Thursday.

The public memorial service was held at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, Canada, the same church where Dion and Angélil were married in 1994.

Celine Dion greeted thousands of fans at the open-casket viewing, which took place from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. She was joined by her son, René-Charles Angelil.

"The support we've received has been such a blessing," Dion told People at the viewing on Thursday.

According to a post from Celine Dion's team on Facebook, mourners can follow Angélil's state funeral on Friday, Jan. 22 online by going to this link at 3 p.m. ET.

Angélil died Jan. 14 at his home in Las Vegas after a long battle with throat cancer. He left behind his wife, Dion, their three sons and three children from his previous marriages. Just two days after Angélil's death, Dion also lost her brother, Daniel, to cancer.
