With a 6-6 record, the Minnesota Vikings are on the periphery of the playoff picture. If the season ended today then they would miss out but they're still in the hunt. To reach the postseason, they will need all the help they can get.

In hopes of creating a decisive home-field advantage, linebacker Chad Greenway offered some advice to the team's fans ahead of an upcoming game against NFC North rivals Chicago Bears.

"We have to play accordingly and our fans have to show up accordingly, which we know they will," he said after the team's recent loss to Green Bay, via the Star-Tribune. "Hopefully, they're super-duper drunk. So drink liquor, not beer."

Greenway isn't the first NFL player to imply that a drunk fan is a loud (and useful) one. Last September, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady told New England fans to "start drinking early" ahead a 4:15 game against the Chargers.

"Get nice and rowdy. It's a 4:15 game. They have a lot of time to get lubed up and come out here and cheer for their home team," he said, per CBS News.

Shortly after Brady made those comments, a spokesman from the Patriots front office clarified them, saying Brady "wants everyone to drink a lot of water, stay hydrated. Drink responsibly."

It might be a bit harder for a Vikes flack to walk back Greenway's comments.
