Champion Bodybuilder With Colostomy Bag Redefines Beauty And Strength

"It's time to show the world that having a chronic illness doesn't have to stop you from achieving."

Zoey Wright just set a new standard for power and beauty.

"I'm still on cloud 9. I've hardly slept. I'm feeling so overwhelmed.. is this a dream!?" she wrote on Facebook Monday.

Wright's first place finish for best figure and best body transformation at the Pure Elite Muscle & Fitness Competition in England also qualified her for an even bigger Pure Elite contest. "World championship here I come!" she wrote.

A few years ago, Wright, 22, was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a disease that inflames the large intestine.

She battled chronic fatigue and diarrhea before opting to be fitted for a colostomy bag on the outside of her body last November, Yahoo reported. Body building helped her cope with the illness, and she committed herself to taking the stage with her bag. Here she is training just a few months after her surgery.

"It's time to show the world that having a chronic illness doesn't have to stop you from achieving," she wrote in a blog post weeks before the competition. But, she admitted, "I'm absolutely petrified to go in front of a theatre full of people with my bag fully exposed."

Wright shared her inspiring transformation with Instagram followers several days before the competition.

We say it worked out brilliantly, Zoey. Congratulations!
