An Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Hawaii turned around Wednesday evening approximately 90 minutes into the trip due to an unruly passenger, according to Hawaii News Now.
Alaska Airlines flight 877 returned to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after a man refused to stop chanting loudly despite the crew requesting that he stop making noise, the Associated Press reported.
"The crew tried to get the man to stop, but he would not cooperate," Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Bobbie Egan told The Huffington Post.
Egan wouldn't say what the passenger uttered, but said the comments weren't threatening or religious.
Still, the plane returned to Seattle "out of concern for the safety of everybody on the flight," Egan said.
Egan said the man cooperated with law enforcement who escorted him from the plane. Alaska Airlines won't punish him with any fines.
The flight then took off again and landed at 1:16 a.m. local time Thursday in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Sea-Tac Airport spokesman Perry Cooper told HuffPost no arrest was made. Cooper said the Port of Seattle police found "nothing to suggest criminal activity occurred. [The man] appeared apologetic and cooperative." He was returned to the terminal and advised to rebook his ticket with a different airline carrier.
