Did Charles Manson Commit More Murders Than The 1969 Killings?
FILE This 1969 file photo shows Charles Manson being escorted to his arraignment on conspiracy-murder charges in connection with the Sharon Tate murder case Los Angeles, Calif. Mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik's shocking testimony to a Norwegian court has revived a debate about how much of a public platform mass-murderers should be given in trials. Cult leader Charles Manson, who persuaded others to kill for him, refused to testify in the raucous 1970 trial of him and other members of his "Manson Family." In an unusual proceeding, Manson was allowed to testify outside the jury's presence so that the judge could rule on whether his testimony was admissible in front of jurors.(AP Photo)

The LAPD is trying to obtain decades-old tapes said to be recordings of conversations between Charles Manson and his right-hand man Charles "Tex" Watson and Bill Boyd, Watson's lawyer. The tapes allegedly confirm that Manson committed more murders than the infamous 1969 killings for which he is jailed.
