Rangel Makes Announcement About His Political Future

Congressman Charles Rangel, who was convicted on 11 counts of breaking ethics rules in 2010, formally announced he will be seeking his 22nd term.

The 81-year old congressman released a statement on Tuesday announcing his bid. Rangel has been a highly influential political figure representing Harlem since 1971 and is a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Rangel was found guilty of various financial and fundraising misconduct charges. When denied a delay for trial, Rangel famously walked out of court.
