Charlize Theron Is Baffled By Grown Women Who Wear Hello Kitty (POLL)

Charlize Theron: Adults Shouldn't Wear Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty, that cuddly cartoon cat at the forefront of Sanrio's animated critter line, is usually embraced by young girls, but that doesn't stop many grown women sporting Hello Kitty apparel or accessories.

We know we've spotted many a lady in a Hello Kitty tee on the streets of Manhattan before.

But listen up, Katy Perry and other mature Sanrio lovers: Charlize Theron wants you to back away from the cute cartoons, Us Weekly reports.

Theron, who dished on style at her TimesTalk last week, has some (four-letter!) words for women who still sport Sanrio:

“I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t and nobody is concerned for them,” Theron said. “It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.”

To film her movie "Young Adult," Charlize says she asked the costume director to get her some Hello Kitty tees in order to embody her character's youthful insouciance.

So, sorry, fans of Hello Kitty style: if you want to play by Charlize's rules, these Sanrio Elle Taiwan covers will have to sate your appetite.

Weigh in our on poll below: is it OK for grown women to sport the cuddly cartoon cat?
