Chiara de Blasio, the daughter of Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio, gave her dad an Election Day surprise this morning.

The stylish college sophomore had told her father that she was going to miss going to the polls Tuesday because she had some exams. Unbeknownst to her father, however, Chiara had plane tickets to fly back to New York from California. Early Tuesday morning, a photographer captured Mr. De Blasio opening the door to his family's Brooklyn home, only for his daughter to jump out from behind a trashcan and surprise him. She then joined her family on their trip to their local polling place.

"This is the greatest gift I could have on Election Day is to have my daughter with us," said de Blasio, according to Daily Intel. "I'm already floating on air because my daughter's here with us. And this guy's okay too," he added about his son, Dante.
