Thanks to last year’s historic polar vortex conditions, we already know that Chicago is eerily beautiful from above during the winter -- but now we have video proof.
On Sunday, photographer Colin Hinkle released a compilation of footage offering a bird’s eye view of a very-frigid Windy City, via a GoPro camera strapped to a DJI Phantom 2 drone.
The video was shot over the course of two weeks in January, according to its YouTube description, and features shots of the city that are both familiar — the downtown skyline, CTA trains, Lake Michigan and the Chicago River — and less so, particularly the brand-new Maggie Daley Park.
According to Hinkle, the mercury never reached above 10 degrees throughout the entire filming period.
“Enjoy the beauty of a frigid Chicago from your warmth of your living room,” the description reads.
Stunning.
