Chicago Muggings: 7 Teens Charged In 'Mob-Style' Attacks Downtown (VIDEO)

7 Teens Charged In 'Mob-Style' Attacks Downtown

Seven teens -- and one adult -- were arrested and charged with felony mob action on a weekend marred by multiple "mob-style" attacks and muggings in downtown Chicago, one incident which left a 40-year-old man with a broken jaw.

The 40-year-old man was attacked near the 500 block of North State Street by up to 10 attackers just before 10 p.m. Saturday, after the nearby Blues Festival wrapped up that evening, Fox Chicago reports.

Mitchell Coradarrowe, 18, of the 5900 block of South Indiana Avenue, was charged with one count of mob action and another of aggravated battery -- both felonies -- in the incident. Seven other individuals -- between the ages of 13 and 16 -- were also charged with felony mob action in the incident.

Two other attacks, that police believe were unrelated, took place Saturday evening in the city's downtown area, the Chicago Tribune reports. One man suffered minor injuries in an attack in the 100 block of North State Street.

On Sunday evening, a 36-year-old man walking home from work in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood was accosted a group of teens -- somewhere between 10 and 20 people -- who beat him and stole his iPhone, NBC Chicago reports.

The man was taken to the hospital after suffering a head injury, but walked on his own after the incident, according to CBS Chicago.

Last summer, similar so-called "teen flash mobs" made headlines and stoked fears in the city's downtown area.
