While 85 of their compatriots at the World Cup were sitting in jail cells after breaking into the stadium, the rest of Chile was back home, celebrating.
Mamu Vásquez posted this video on YouTube after Chile eliminated Spain, the defending champion, from the World Cup.
The video, aptly titled, "The screaming of Santiago," features what sounds like all 6 million people who inhabit the country's capital city screaming and cheering at once. An occasional car horn punctuates the din, along with a staccato of beating drums. Here's what it looked like in the streets below:
