Chinese Restaurant Blasts Picky Patrons, 'Doesn't Give A Sh*t' About Gluten-Free

Here's how NOT to run your business.

The owner-chef of a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco was so steaming mad at "hard to please" diners that he shut the place early Thursday and put up a sign that read:

We are closed because of you (customers).
So... yes, we use MSG!
So... we don't believe in organic food
And... we don't give a shit about gluten free.

Eater reported that back-to-back encounters with disgruntled patrons -- one group that refused to pay because the food was too spicy, and another diner who swore at him -- put SO owner James Chu over the top.

Chu told San Francisco's ABC 7 News that he had had it with what he deemed picky patrons. He also cracked that he would supply "organic MSG." Still, the restaurant reportedly re-opened soon after.

SO got lots of attention from the notice, as commenters debated it on SO's Yelp page and Facebook page.

"Sounds like you have some BS customers. RESPECT to you from Seattle," one wrote on Facebook.

"The owner is a baby and can't help but tick off his prospective customers because he can't do their orders as they asked for," another said.

In the end, the stunt might have boosted business. An employee told The Huffington Post on Monday that the restaurant was too busy for Chu to come to the phone for an interview. And ABC 7 also reported that the restaurant was doing brisk business when its reporter visited.

The restaurant also posted a new, less confrontational sign, Eater reported in a follow-up.

It read: "We work hard to please everyone, but we know we can't. So if you're hard to please, please just turn around and go somewhere else. Thanks!"
