Rays Pitcher Chris Archer: Big Papi 'Feels Like He's Bigger Than The Game' (VIDEO)

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is feuding with another member of the Tampa Bay Rays pitching staff. This time, it's Rays starter Chris Archer. In the third inning on Sunday, Ortiz launched a three-run homer off Archer and followed it with an enthusiastic bat flip before taking his time jogging around the bases.

The homer proved to be enough as Boston went on to win 3-2. Along with the loss, it was Big Papi's post-homer antics that made Archer upset.

"All my interactions with him off the field have been good but when it comes to him on the field, I don't know what makes him think he can showboat the way he does, and then nobody retaliate. Nobody look at him a funny way or nobody pitch him inside," Archer told reporters in the locker room. "I don't know why he feels like that. But obviously he feels the way David [Price] said he does. He feels like he's bigger than the game. He feels like the show is all about him. Which in reality, if I don't walk Daniel Nava and if I don't give up single to Pedroia, his one home run means nothing. I hope he realizes that there's more that goes into it than just him."

Ortiz didn't seem to care much about Archer's comments.

"Whatever, dude," Ortiz said, via The Tampa Tribune. "There’s always going to be comments out there. He’s not the right guy to be saying that, I think. He’s got two days in the league, and to be (whining) and complaining about stuff like that … what else?"

Archer is the second Rays pitcher to engage in a war of words with Ortiz. When these two teams met back in May -- after a game that included a couple of hit batters (including Ortiz) and bench-clearing altercations -- Ortiz ripped David Price for "acting like a little girl."

The back-and-forth comments will certainly make the seven games left between the Rays and Red Sox worth watching.
