Kathy Berman, wife of ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman, died Tuesday in an auto collision with another driver in Woodbury, Connecticut, the Hartford Courant reported.

Kathy Berman was 67. The couple had been married for 33 years and had two children, Meredith and Douglas, Deadspin noted.

ESPN President John Skipper posted condolences on Twitter Wednesday, calling the incident a “devastating tragedy.”

According to a police report cited by the Hartford Courant, Berman’s car rear-ended a vehicle driven by 87-year-old Edward Bertulis, who also died. The impact sent Berman’s car down an embankment and Bertulis’ car into a utility pole.

State troopers are investigating whether Bertulis suffered a medical emergency before the crash, the Courant noted.

Chris Berman has worked at ESPN since 1979 and signed a new contract in January.
