New Jersey Is Having A Texas-Sized Laugh With Chris Christie As A Cowboys Cheerleader

WARNING: This Is What Chris Christie Would Like As A Cowboys Cheerleader

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has called New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie part of his team's "mojo." But New Jersey newspapers have been imagining him as something slightly different: A Texas-sized Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

At least two media outlets in the Garden State have created less than flattering images of Christie as an actual cheerleader following his high-profile, highly awkward cheering for the Cowboys during the NFL playoffs. Christie, a longtime Cowboys fans, was spotted with Jones during the team's 24-20 win over the Detroit Lions in an NFC wild-card-game on Jan. 4.

Star-Ledger cartoonist Drew Sheneman depicted the Republican politician as a Cowboys cheerleader in an image that ran with the caption "Christie Does Dallas." Another Jersey paper, The Trentonian, featured a slightly more realistic approximation of Christie as a Cowboys cheerleader created by local graphic designer Robert Hazelrigg on its front page.

But Christie's allegiance to the Cowboys remains firm in the face of editorial ridicule, and the ethics concerns that were raised by his attendance to the Jan. 4 game. Christie announced that he'd be heading to Green Bay for the team's next playoff game against the Packers on Jan. 11 to keep on cheering at Lambeau Field.
