Chris Christie: Sarah Palin's 'Blood Libel' Comment Was Unnecessary

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) gave a cool review Thursday of Sarah Palin's use of the controversial phrase "blood libel" in her response to the criticism that she had received following the shooting in Arizona.

"I don't think anybody really believes that Governor Palin was trying to make someone get hurt or bring violence on," Christie said on ABC's "Good Morning America." "And I think she just should have said that and left it at that."

Christie also offered up a different piece of advice to Palin Wednesday, saying that if the former vice-presidential candidate wanted to be a contender in 2012, she would have to open up and go off script.

"You have to look at it and see, what are they like when they're tested, what are they like when they're not scripted, what are they like when they're pushed," Christie told The New York Times. "And I would contend to you that if Governor Palin never does any of those things, she'll never be president, because people in America won't countenance that. They just won't."
