Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborn -- a.k.a. Green Goblin -- in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," this according to THR. Cooper is the third Oscar-winning actor cast in the "Spider-Man" sequel, following in the footsteps of original "Amazing Spider-Man" co-star Sally Field and newcomer Jamie Foxx. Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti is also set for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
According to the trade, Osborn will appear in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," but whether the character's villainous alter ego will also make an appearance is unclear. Following the more is more strategy that many comic book films take in second ventures, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has three potential villains, with Cooper's Osborn joining Foxx's Electro and Giamatti's The Rhino. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" cast also includes Dane DeHaan (as Obsborn's son Harry) and Felicity Jones, who may play Felicia Hardy (a.k.a. Black Cat). Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are set again as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, with Shaliene Woodley starring as Mary Jane Watson. No word yet who will play the kitchen sink.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is shooting now. The film is set for release on May 2, 2014.
