Perhaps this was bound to happen. Baltimore slugger Chris Davis is on pace for a historic season. He already has 31 home runs, the most in the majors and the most through 83 games since Barry Bonds hit 39 and Luis Gonzalez had 35 in 2001, per HardballTalk. He's just two homers shy of his career best, 33, which he set last season.

Cue the steroid speculation.

Hours before hitting his 31st homer against the Yankees on Sunday night -- which broke the franchise record for most homers before the All-Star break -- one baseball fan decided to ask Davis directly if he was taking steroids. Without hesitation, Davis responded bluntly.
